More than 15 years ago when I realized that my public speaking could become a full-time endeavor, I was faced with the decision on whether or not to create a non-profit ministry or a for-profit business. As I earnestly pursued speaking engagements within churches and at women’s events, it was the doors into Corporate America that continually opened instead.

I was growing frustrated and weary until one day my dear husband exclaimed, “Gee, honey. Do you suppose that God needs you in Corporate America more than in the local church?” My husband is a wise man when it comes to serving God and even though it was not what I wanted to hear, I listened.

As I look back (hindsight is always 20/20 isn’t it?) I realize that if I’d become a women’s retreat speaker when I wanted to, I would have been gone and traveling many weekends. My children were still at home and that would not have had a positive impact on my family.

Our children are now grown and guess what? The doors are opening to speak for churches, women’s events and retreats. The timing is right. While the majority of my time is still spent training in corporations, I am now enjoying opportunities to intertwine my faith with messages that will have an eternal impact on His kingdom.

Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust also in Him and He will do it.
