Email responses: We have not because we ask not

My grandma used to say to me “Audie – speak up when you want something. You have not because you ask not.” Grandma passed away not so long ago just shy of her 100th birthday. But her wisdom lives on.

When you are typing an email, think about what type of action, if any, you want the recipient of your email to take. And then ask for it – by putting an action word in the SUBJECT line that will get their attention and guide their action.

Some examples include:

  • ACTION REQUIRED
  • Response needed
  • RSVP appreciated
  • Decision by Friday
